Visit to rich biodiversity and the hill station borders

Often called the Cherrapunji of South India, Agumbe is known for its scenic beauty and bio-diversity. Nestled on a plateau on top of Someshwara Ghat, it is located at a distance of 380 km from Bangalore. Situated in Shimoga district of Karnataka, Agumbe gets its sobriquet because it receives 7,640 mm of mean annual rainfall, the second highest annual rainfall in India.

Koodlu Falls

Koodlu Theertha Falls is a mesmerizing waterfall located near Hebri on Udupi-Agumbe Road in Karnataka. Nestled amidst the dense forest of the Western Ghats and adjacent to the Agumbe ranges the waterfall is the first fall of the River Sita. It is also known as Sita Falls.

Agumbe Sunset Point

Unset view attracts many tourists to visit this place. The sunset view point is 825Meters from sea level. The nearest city is Shimoga(District head quarters). Agumbe is 90 Kms from Shimoga towards South-West. Roads are a bit steep and sharp curves leads to this scenic place. Except a small restaurant no food available nearby. People visiting Agumbe can also visit Shringeri (Chikmagalur District) as it is very nearby.

Kundadri hill

In the Theerthahalli Taluq of Shimoga District is the beautiful and popular Kundadri Hill, a monolithic rock formation with a Jain Temple at the top. Rising 3,200 feet above sea level, the Kundadri hill is a cool destination that’s an ideal spot to visit during summer.Covered in lush green forests, this hill is a holy pilgrimage place for Jains and also a fine spot to do a bit of trekking and climbing, for adventure enthusiasts.

Shringeri Sharadha Mutt

Sri Sharadamba Temple is a famous Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Saraswati in the holy town of Sringeri in Karnataka, India. The Sharadamba Temple at Sringeri is an 8th-century temple, founded by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. This location is just 35Km Aprox from our homestay.

Onake Abbi falls

The raging falls of Onake Abbi sit at the very edge of the Western Ghats, of which it is a part. The trail that leads you to the magnificent sight of its water falling from a height of nearly 400 meters is one that is a fun jungle adventure. The trek to Onake Abbi used to be a seven kilometer trek through extremely dense jungle until the government cordoned off a large part of what used to be this trail in an effort to safeguard the overwhelming variety of medicinal plants that grow here.

Agumbe Ghat

This scenic hill retreat receives highest rainfall in South India, hence the name ‘Cherrapunji of South India.’ Home to rare and endangered medicinal flora Garcinia, Ficus and Hoiligarna etc., forest trails here are perfect for indulging in short treks and enjoying photogenic sunset in the valleys of Agumbe. Do explore the beautiful Jogigundi, Barkana and Theertha waterfalls. Don’t miss the perfect sunset view from the Sunset Point. Agumbe Rainforest Complex, and Gopalakrishna Temple are also worth a visit.

Varanga Jain Temple

The Varanga Jain Temple in the small but picturesque village of Varanga in the Hebri Taluk of Udupi district is a popular pilgrim center for Jains. It is however a place that is relatively off the beaten track for other travelers. Its ancient Jain temples are surely among the most unique and treasured temples of Karnataka.
